22/05 Q&A COVID-19

In order to keep under control the evolution of the COVID-19, the government has issued a number of rules and regulations for the different organizations to follow. At the Aylmer Soccer Club, we are committed to keeping our members and staff safe and we will be taking every necessary precaution to ensure everyone’s safety. We are keeping a close eye on the evolution of the situation and will be taking all decisions with safety in mind. In these difficult times, we still wish to offer you some answers to questions you might have and keep and open ear to any concerns you wish to share with us.
Will there be soccer at all this summer ?
As of today, no final decision has been made public by authorities about the 2020 soccer summer season. All scenarios have been explored by clubs, Regional Associations and Soccer Quebec. On May 14th, Soccer Quebec published the document Plan de reprise des activités de soccer that proposes 5 steps for a return to soccer. This plan has been submitted to the government but has not yet been approved.
One thing we now for sure is that the 2020 summer season will not be as we had originally planed. We will be following closely the government and public safety guidelines and recommendations and will see what is feasible for us to offer within those guidelines.
Will there be games this season either during practices or in a league context?
As we presently have to respect physical distancing, actual games can not be part of the initial return to activity (phases 1 & 2). The Plan from Soccer Quebec proposes 5 progressive steps for a return to play as, hopefully, the restrictions will be gradually lightened. It is good to know that the process is flexible and it could eventually be accelerate if allowed by the gouvernement for a speedier return to usual soccer activities and games!
How can we respect the recommandations of Public Health?
The safety of our members and our employees is of outmost importance. Because the requirements of physical distancing, it is very likely that in the initial phase of return to play, no contacts between players will be allowed. Activities will be focused around individual skill acquisition for players, keeping in mind the importance of fun. We are expecting more details from Soccer Quebec about how things can be done. We will keep you informed of how practices will actually take place when this informations becomes available.
Can soccer balls be a vector for virus contamination?
Nothing has yet been confirmed but as a preventive measure, it could initially be expected that each player would use his-her own ball only.
How about competitive teams AA/ERSL, will they be playing this summer?
As of May 15th, ERSL and la Ligue du Lac-St-Louis, are still anticipating a competitive season even if the number of games had to be reduced or the season had to be extended. Any decision will be taken based on Guidlines from the involved federations and according to the concerned gouvernement officials.
Will announced programs be modified ?
Yes. Duration, content, trainer-child ration and costs will be revised. If and when activities can resume, prices will be adjusted taking into account the new date of beginning and the proposed scenario for return to play. We will be able to refund the difference between the initial cost and the revised cost when applicable.
My child is already signed up for a summer soccer program but I no longer wish for him-her to participate, can I get my money back?
Absolutely. If you wish for a refund, please complete the Demande de remboursement Form online. Our refund policies respect the Office de Protection du Consommateur rules. As the COVID-19 situation is putting an important strain on the ASC finances, we would like you to consider a refund in two payments, one immediately and the second in September if you can afford it. Ha
We could also offer a credit for an upcoming season if that is convenient for you.
I have payed the full amount of registration before the COVID-19 situation, will there be a rebate?
Yes. Since the offered programs will have to be substantially modified, we will refund the difference between the price that was originally paid and the new pricing structure when applicable.
We closely follow the recommandations from Soccer Québec and we will keep our members informed of any new development . Follow us on Facebook or visit our website for the most current updates. Your safety is our priority and we will be respecting all Public Health & Safety Guidlines. We wish to thank you for your understanding and we wish for you and your loved ones to stay healthy.
